HyperEVM gas in HYPE, paid with XMR or Lightning

Moved USDC or tokens from HyperCore to your HyperEVM address and the wallet has 0 HYPE? Buy a sliver of HYPE with Monero or Lightning and it lands on chain ID 999 in a minute.

Native HYPE gas on HyperEVM

HyperEVM is the general-purpose EVM that runs alongside Hyperliquid's order-book chain, HyperCore, and shares its state and its native token. Gas on HyperEVM is paid in HYPE. That trips people up because the usual way onto the chain is a transfer from HyperCore, and a transfer of USDC or another token arrives on an EVM address that holds no HYPE at all, so the wallet cannot swap, lend, or even send what it just received.

1gwei.dev sends native HYPE on chain ID 999 to the address you paste after you pay a Monero or Bitcoin Lightning invoice. No Hyperliquid account, no bridge from Arbitrum, no exchange withdrawal. The payout is an ordinary HyperEVM transaction you can verify on the HyperEVM explorer.

HyperEVM processes small blocks about once a second and larger blocks about once a minute, and fees are a fraction of a cent, so a fraction of one HYPE covers a great deal of activity. The checkout quotes HYPE at the live HYPE/USD spot rate plus the same margin as every other chain, and shows the coverage before you pay.

When you need gas on HyperEVM

  • Transferred USDC or a spot token from HyperCore to HyperEVM and the address has no HYPE to move it.
  • Want to use a HyperEVM DEX or lending app from a self-custody wallet without funding through Hyperliquid's own deposit flow.
  • A fresh HyperEVM wallet for a points program, a mint or a claim needs its first HYPE.
  • Bridging HYPE in via Arbitrum costs a mainnet-scale fee and a wait for gas worth a few cents.

HyperEVM gas questions

Is gas on HyperEVM paid in HYPE or in USDC?

In HYPE. HyperEVM is Hyperliquid's EVM and its native gas token is HYPE. USDC and other tokens on HyperEVM cannot pay fees, so a wallet holding only USDC is stuck until it receives HYPE.

I moved USDC from HyperCore to HyperEVM and cannot send it. Why?

The EVM address received USDC but no HYPE, and every transaction on HyperEVM needs HYPE for gas. Order a small HYPE top-up to that address and the USDC becomes spendable. You do not need to move anything back to HyperCore.

How much HYPE do I need for gas?

Very little. Fees on HyperEVM are a fraction of a cent per transaction, so the smallest pack of 0.01 HYPE covers many sends and swaps. The checkout reads the live HyperEVM gas price and shows the exact coverage before you pay.

Do I need a Hyperliquid account to get HYPE on HyperEVM?

No. HyperEVM is a public EVM chain; any wallet with chain ID 999 configured can hold HYPE. 1gwei.dev sends it to whatever address you paste after a Monero or Lightning payment, with no account on either side.

Is this HyperEVM or HyperCore?

HyperEVM, chain ID 999, the EVM address space where 0x wallets and smart contracts live. HyperCore is the order-book side of Hyperliquid and is not an EVM chain; balances there are separate and are not what this page funds.

Why is HyperEVM priced in HYPE here?

Because HYPE is the gas token on HyperEVM. The checkout quotes the live HYPE/USD spot price from the same feed family as ETH, applies the same margin, and sends real HYPE. Amounts run from 0.002 to 0.5 HYPE per order.
